Our Dance and Drama sessions utilise the space of our large mirrored hall, as well as taking trips to outdoor spaces nearby and local venues such as York Theatre.
Drama sessions work towards outcomes such as moving to sound, moving in space, following instructions for performances and co-operating with others. We also have a singing and signing group who learn Makaton to songs. This isn't just for those who use Makaton on a daily basis, but is a great way to develop skills for communication between trainees.
Not only do we aim to develop dance and drama skills in these sessions but also transferable skills such as team work, communication and expression, following instructions, dealing with emotions and confidence building.
